Datura was drop-forged from the ashes of multiple metal acts of the ancient past. Strewn from a cauldron of evil, guided by the principles of Occam's razor and misanthropy, Datura emerged as a five-headed demon with euphorically beautiful locks of hair. Armed with an array of orchestral devastation, with the most brutal arsenal of cataclysmic proportions, Datura shall rage forth to claim what has always been rightfully theirs ... the throne. In the sultry summer of April, 2003 AD warrior/percussionist Shawn Priest started his epic journey with the group Suisilent (formally Scapegoat), a metal act based in Caldwell. After decapitating one of his guitarists for treason, Shawn contacted warrior/guitarist Bob Stork, an evil man, with a vast knowledge of the black arts, wielding a wicked axe. Bob (formerly the guitarist for the group the Bleeding) and Shawn then commenced in creating music so metal that you could stick a magnet to it. Seeing that the other members of Suisilent were futile and weak, Shawn and Bob decided their fate and disemboweled the lesser metal warriors and incinerated their remains. This was a new beginning. Under the sinister November moon, 2003 AD the Atlantean warriors Shawn Priest and Bob Stork recruited the Demonic Soothsaying throat of Matt Huey who was currently in the group Clockthroat. Upon hearing the anally intrusive rhythms from Shawn and Bob, the wicked Matt Huey had but one choice: devour his longtime comrades with some farvar beans and a nice bottle of Chianti, then come to the dark side of metal Valhalla where evil power has no boundaries. The second stage was complete. In the ardent, sweltering summer of July, 2004 AD the master of the black arts Bob Stork, summoned the battleaxe-wielding evil north man Travis Torkelson (formally the bassist/vocalist of The Bleeding). The north man knew another mighty savage by the name of Peter Wadams; percussionist from the colossal metal group Xex. Peter introduced an axe-wielding wizard of incredible skill by the name of JB Allen to the north man. Though Bob was a longtime friend of the north man, and though skilled, the wizard and the north man were not exempt from distrust. Having much to lose, Bob, Shawn and Matt new that Vikings and Wizards were never to be immediately trusted. All was not yet well, blood must first be shed before the behemoth of Shawn, Bob, and Matt would accept these puny mortals into their good graces. A battle of epic proportions took place. The blood shed from the battle of the five Dark Souls merged to become the Monolithic Atlantean Monarch that is known as Datura. To this day, this clinically insane, beer-swilling beast walks the earth, feeding on the blood of the innocent, trampling the weak, and then defecating all over them.
